A PAIR OF CHINESE COCKERELS, LATE QING DYNASTY
China, 19th century. Each perched on rockwork bases, the head turned slightly to the side, the body covered in white, with a red comb and wattle, the face and legs painted in dark brown, and the base glazed in ochre.
Provenance: French trade.
Condition: Good condition with old wear to the glaze, mostly to the dark-brown glazed head and feet, nibbling to exposed areas, some manufacturing irregularities, such as spots, glazing recesses, pitting, and porcelain warts. One rooster with hairline cracks to the base of the comb.
Weight: 3,433 g and 3,504 g
Dimensions: Height 45.6 cm and 45.2 cm
