A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain planters with matching trays, all of which have areas of famille rose decoration, dating from the Republic period. Both planters and trays have white ground quatrefoils with famille rose scenes of flowers with insects and birds. These scenes are set against blue and white tracery grounds. Similar framed designs are mirrored on the rims of the planters and trays as well. Dimensions are: the planter measures 6 1/2 inches tall X 9 1/4 inches in diameter, 16.5 cm X 23.5 cm. The tray measures 1 3/4 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches in diameter, 4.4 cm X 21.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: One planter has two cracks and one chip to the rim. The other planter has a hairline to the rim. Both trays are in overall good condition. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties. Oakridge Auction Gallery bears no responsibility for any error or omission. Provenance: From Mrs. McClellan in Las Vegas, Nevada. The items in the collection were acquired in Beijing or Hong Kong from the 1980s to the early 1990s. Notes: High resolution photos can be found here.
