A pair of Chinese red-ground embroideries dating from the Republic period. Each depicts a big cat; one has a leopard on a branch, while the other has a lion standing in a field. Each is mounted onto a silk backing. Dimensions are: 76 1/4 inches tall X 17 1/2 inches wide, 193.8 cm X 44.5 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The embroidery of the leopard has some areas of thread loss, as well as discoloration and minor creasing. The embroidery of the lion has staining and some loose threads. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is.
