方增先 1931年生于浙江浦江。1953年毕业于浙江美术学院，留校后为研究生。20世纪后半叶现实主义中国人物画创作的代表人物之一，中国画坛具有影响力的“新浙派人物画”的奠基人与推动者。历任第五届全国人大代表、上海美术馆馆长、中国美术学院荣誉教授、中国美术家协会常务理事、中国国家画院中国画院院长。曾获“第二届中国美术奖终身成就奖”、“第七届全国美展银奖”、“齐白石奖”。代表作有《粒粒皆辛苦》、《母亲》、《古诗意图》。
Fang Zengxian was born in Pujiang, Zhejiang Province. After graduating from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1953, he chose to stay for further study as a postgraduate. As one of the representatives of realistic Chinese figure painting in second half of the 20th century, he is a founder and advocator of ‘The Portraiture of New Zhejiang Painting Faction’, shedding great light on China painting. Fang served as Deputy of the Fifth National People’s Congress, Curator of Shanghai Art Museum, Honorary Professor of China Academy of Fine Arts, Standing Council Member of China Artists Association and Dean of Chinese Painting Division of China National Academy of Painting. Every Single Grain is the Fruit of Hard Work, Mother and Scenery on Ancient Poems are all his representative works, which brought him many prizes including the Life Achievement Prize of the Second China Art Awards, the Silver Prize of the Seventh National Art Exhibition and Qi Baishi Prize.
