Note: Henderson began his artistic career as a genre and portrait painter, focussing on capturing the lives of the working class, which he treated in an idealised manner. After twenty years his principal interest transitioned to Marine painting, influenced by the likes of William McTaggart (1835-19190) and the Scottish Impressionists. Thereafter, his technique became looser and more Impressionist in style. The present work was likely conceived in the late decades of the 19th Century or in his final years at the beginning of the 20th Century.Please refer to department for condition report
