此件扳指以和田白玉为材，洁白莹润，随形雕刻。器矮圆筒形，器一面微凸，一面内凹，素纹不琢一工于其表，深知佳材难得。整体选材精良，做工规矩，曲线工整。扳指，又称“班指”，盛行于清，当与满人善骑射不无关系。本意是射箭时将其用佩戴于拇指之上以防伤手，后逐渐从实用物演变成装饰物，并成为身份地位的象征。
