Roman, Roman-controlled Britain, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine, well preserved redware pottery bowl resting atop an integral concave foot. The round-bodied vessel has rolling walls, a deep basin, and a gently-tapering rim with a flared lip. Wheel-formed striations adorn the lower midsection and the area just beneath the rim, while the remaining exterior areas are accentuated with hundreds of small stippling marks that imbue it with an elegant texture.
