Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. An intriguing group of 2 mold-formed pottery artifacts from ancient Rome, each displaying faint red-brown hues. First is a standalone head of an older male with impressed pupils, full lips beneath flared nostrils, and perky ears that jut out from the bald skullcap. The manner in which the neck tapers to a point suggests that this head was either a sculptor's model or a removable head from a larger figure. The larger piece is a female figure who stands nude save for a textured belt crossing over her chest, perhaps as a toy for a child to dress and adorn with different costumes and implements. Size (figure): 2.125" W x 6.6" H (5.4 cm x 16.8 cm); (head): 2.2" W x 3.4" H (5.6 cm x 8.6 cm) Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
