Native American, Southwestern United States, Eastern Arizona, Upper Little Colorado River Drainage, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), Greater Salado, Upper Gila, ca. 1200 to 1350 CE. A lovely bowl of a hemispherical form with a round but stable base and a thick rim surrounding a deep basin. Formed via the traditional coil-and-scrape technique, the interior of the bowl is decorated with intricate linear, stepped, and geometric motifs in black on a brick red ground, and the surface is smoothed but not highly polished, characteristic of the Roosevelt redware style.
