Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Native American, Southwestern United States, Southeastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Pinedale type, ca. 1275 to 1350 CE. A squat and spherical jar, formed via the traditional coil-and-scrape technique, that is covered in gray-white pigment. Adorning the surfaces of the body in black pigment is a register of spiraling, rectangular, linear, and triangular motifs enclosed between a pair of solid black bands, and 4 sets of steps are arranged equidistantly around the thick neck. The people who lived at the site of the Pinedale Ruin would have been at the edges of the cultural sphere governed by Chaco Canyon. By the time this jar was created, those Pinedale denizens lived a sedentary agricultural lifestyle; this vessel was perhaps used to store grain or corn.
