本品所宗法的是康熙五彩人物故事图花觚，腹部所绘的是《西厢记》中的热闹情节惠明报信：草寇孙飞虎包围普救寺，欲抢占崔莺莺。张生献计搬兵“白马将军”解围，但需一位冲出大军重围的送信者。法本长老想到了酒肉和尚惠明。惠明闻得，毫无惧色，勇于担起送信的重任。本品可见惠明一手执杖，飞奔送信领命而归。作为颈部的搭配图案则是《西厢记》中的长亭送别图，描绘了崔莺莺与红娘送别张生时的场景。光绪时期，京剧已大为盛行，就连宫廷之中也已经“莫不酷嗜京剧”，《西厢记》的许多京剧曲目更是脍炙人口，此中故事化为瓷画陈设厅堂更是人们的时代风俗、雅好。
