《养心殿造办处史料辑览》有记:“二十九日据圆明园来帖称，本月二十六日太监王玉持来花梨木纹釉瓷桶一件，说太监刘希文传旨:着将瓷桶配做木架，得时送往西峰秀色陈设。钦此。”而西峰秀色殿正在雍正寝宫，此类器物有一统（桶）江山之寓意，故极得皇帝重视。本品满施白釉，然其仿生之肌理自然逼真，木纹模仿惟妙惟肖，捏塑绳纹束带装饰，生趣盎然。常用以陈设美玉珠翠拱攒之万年青类吉祥盆景和“瓶花”，又体现出“一统(桶)江山万年青”之意，意义独特，殊堪宝藏。
