茶叶末釉始烧于唐代，耀州窑多有出品。到雍正时，著名督陶官唐英把它和景德镇瓷器的白瓷胎结合到一起，发明了清代茶叶末釉，当初定名为厂官釉。此釉色偏绿者居多，因具有青铜器的沉着色调，常也被用来仿古铜器，又叫“古铜彩”。本品即是取此釉色仿铜香炉神韵也，故器型稳重，线条刚强，配以红木炉盖加之洞石灵芝式的碧玉盖钮更添古雅仙灵之气，是雍正古典主义美学的臻品佳器。
