**Originally Listed At $1000** Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A striking blackware vessel in the form of the head of an elder presenting huge, almond-shaped eyes beneath arched brows, a sharp, curved nose, pursed lips, and an angular chin. His prominent cheekbones project from below his eyes, sharply contrasting his hollow cheeks, which are flanked by a pair of protruding ears. The artist has taken strides to emphasize his age via incised lines that represent the wrinkling folds of flesh on his forehead, the crow s feet extending from his eyes, the laugh lines enveloping his mouth, and the lipstick lines above his mouth.
