Silk with Kesi weaving, silk and gold threads. China, late Qing Dynasty

This lot comprises a total of four finely woven sleeve bands, building two matching pairs, executed in Kesi technique. Both pairs show children at play in the palace gardens and court ladies watching over them on one. A seal mark and inscription can be found on the backside of one crème colored sleeve band.

Shape: Rectangular, vertical sleeve bands; blue pair is not divided
Dimensions: Largest in group: 30 x 109 cm; smallest in group: 13 x 107 cm
Condition: Some discoloration and stains at the margins, smaller tears or holes
Provenance: Austrian private collection
