Hand painted silk, linen back, top band and loops. China, 19th century
This delicate silk altar frontal shows fine hand painting in imitation of embroidery. The upper, light blue silk panel bears three cartouches, two of which are fruit shaped. The red color silk sheet has a central buddha hand fruit shaped cartouche in which we find a bird of paradise. Qilong dragons and bats are framing the cartouche.

Dimensions: 102 x 88 cm
Condition: Colors are somewhat faded, some wear, stains and minor tears
