His right hand rests on his knee with palm facing outward holding the myrobalan plant held between the thumb and index finger. Characteristic of the late Ava period in Northern Burma (17th/18th century), the tall lotus platform is deeply recessed with a smooth median band dividing the petals.pare the closely related base of an Ava Jambhupati, dated by inscription to 1628, published in Fraser-Lu & Stadtner (eds.),Buddhist Art of Myanmar, 2015, p. 156, no. 35.The representation of the Bhasajyaguru, the 'Medicine Buddha', in Burmese sculpture is rare.
