A TRIBAL AFGHAN MULTI-STRAND SILVER NECKLACE WITH GLASS INSETS, c. 1950sAfghanistan, mid-20th century. Consisting of a silver chain divided into three strands, between the first and second strand are silver coins, between the second and third are circular beads with hemispherical domes, three inset with red and emerald glass; and hanging from the third strand are several chains with pendant rhombus-shaped and oval-shaped capsules.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and wear. Provenance: Romy Rey Collection, London. Romy Rey (1938-2020) was born in Zurich, Switzerland, studied in Paris and Geneva, and settled in London in the 1960s. She shared her life with the artist Brian Davies (1942-2014), in London and in Southern France. Romy was an avid traveler and dedicated collector of tribal art.
