A WESTERN ASIATIC MARBLE BOWL, 3RD MILLENNIUM BCWestern Asiatic region, 3rd Millennium BC. The round sides supported on a short flat base and rising to a slightly lipped rim carved with an inscription, the body further decorated with four animals. Condition: Good condition with old wear, extensive weathering and erosion, a chip to the mouth rim with an associated hairline crack. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
