Circa 128 diamonds in various old cuts, altogether circa 1.70 carats. 1 octagonal step-cut peridot and 2 facetted pear-shaped peridots, altogether circa 11.50 carats (calculated weight). The peridots show signs of minor wear. One diamond and original end link are missing. The pendant, which also has a brooch fastening, has at some point been permanently attached to the chain. The peridot, with its delicate colouring, was one of the favourite stones of Queen Alexandra, the consort of Edward VII. As a style icon of her time, she contributed to peridot's paramount importance in the goldsmith's art of the time.
