Description
Translation provided by Youdao
An older 17th Century Japanese sword, the scabbard expertly wrapped with a thin textured string, the ends each covered with rough leather. The hand guard appears to represent the face of a Tengu (forest & temple guardian), with the blade as its extraordinarily long nose. Lotus flowers can be discerned on the menuki (hilt ornaments), under the braided green silk. With a brushed steel hilt collar and pommel guard of intricate (indeterminate) design. L: 24 3/4" (63cm) Condition: Spotting on the blade, and a slightly loose hand guard - Tenmoku Auctions is, unfortunately, not able to unseat the blade from its housing.
