A PEACHBLOOM BOWL, QING DYNASTY
China, 1644-1911. Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen kilns. The bowl covered with an unctuous copper-red and grayish-pink glaze suffused with moss-green flecking, the white-glazed base with a six-character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue within a double circle.
Provenance: This bowl is from a prominent Ottawa estate. The family immigrated to Canada in the earlier 1930s from China bringing several items with them including this bowl.
Condition: One chip to rim with old restoration (1 x 0.5 cm) and two associated hairlines (2 cm each). Some wear, especially inside the bowl. Beyond that in excellent condition.
