A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE ARCHAISTIC VASE, HU
China, later Qing dynasty. The heavy vase is decorated around the lower body with a broad band of foliate scroll bearing large blossoms between waves at the base and a ruyi collar at the shoulder. An apocryphal Qianlong seal mark is on the base.
Provenance: Private collection, Hessen, Germany, acquired in the 1960s/70s and thence by descent in the same family.
Condition: Good condition with old repair to one small chip at one of the tubular handles and associated hairline (only to handle). One glaze flake to lip. Minor fritting to raised bands. Some wear and fine surface scratching to glaze.

Dimensions: Height 44 cm
The upper body is decorated with further bands of waves, floral scroll and pendent trefoils, with the wave pattern repeated on the tubular handles and at the mouth.
