Although neither of them are signed, both of these sketches were found alongside the signed piece from lot 216. Presumably done by Francis Hopkinson (1737 - 1791), but may have been from another member of this artistic family. The first sketch has a mildly psychedelic feel with a sort of nature scene morphing into something resembling an article of clothing. The second shows a very peculiar "person" with something on a utensil in the loose act of eating. There are elements of heraldry, and what looks like a weapon passing through the head of the subject and protruding from the other side. From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives
