A Chinese Ming Dynasty Pottery Sedan Chair and Four Attendants with Oxford TL Test. All pieces made from pale pinkish-brown pottery. The sedan chair (or palanquin) coated in green and amber glazes with a white cold-painted base. The roof of the chair is made separately and is cold-painted in black and orange pigments. The four attendant figures, each standing on a pedestal and with an arm raised to carry the pole that lifts the chair off the ground, cold-painted in black and white pigments. The height of the sedan chair 33cm, the heights of the figures 25-26cm.
With Thermoluminescence Analysis Report from Oxford Authentication dating to 2003. Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).
Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
