来源：德国纳高拍卖熏作甪端形，体态健硕雄壮，作昂首傲立状，神兽抬头望天，双目圆瞪，炯炯有神，气势威严。头部与身体相分开，腹部中空，便于放香，口齿张开，以利散发香气，设计巧妙。胸前浮雕火焰纹等，流畅精细，仿若流动。全器体量精巧，而包浆厚实凝重，形制古朴，气宇不凡，具皇家气象。甪端，为中国古代传说中的神异之兽，据说圣主贤明，才会出现。明清时期，统治者为了表现自己的贤明，也为了得到神兽保护，甪端熏炉成为皇帝宝座旁必有的陈设。
