For your consideration, I offer this 1860s covered brh holder or tray with Tea Leaf Ironstone copper ltre. The pattern is Lily of the Valley and it was made over 150 years ago by the famo English company Anthony Shaw. It is part of a tea leaf ironstone bath set. In this pattern, the larger bath pieces had the tea leaf embossing on them but the soap dish and the toothbrh holder did not. You can find this brh box illtrated on the cover of "Grandma's Tea Leaf Ironstone", the book we have all ed so much over the years to identify manufacturers, patterns, manufacturing years, etc. Most of this type of ware was made in England but there were a few manufacturers in the U.S.A. and other countries included in the book as well. This covered brh holder is approximately 8 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches tall to the top of the flower finial. It was probably made to hold a tooth brh but I have seen people call it a razor box as well. There are no chips or cracks. The dark spot on the picture of the inside of the cover is a dab of lter paint. The embossing on the cover is quite strong. On the tray portion it is weaker and smaller flowers repeated three times on each side. The copper ltre is strong and there is no glaze crazing. . It will be securely packed for safe transit.
