Inlaid with gold tracery and uncut rubies. Jade cups were a common item during the Mughal period because of the belief that jade would counteract poison. This bowl is a rarer find because of the scalloped edges and gold and ruby embellishments. Dimensions: 1 1/4 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches diameter; 3.17 cm tall X 10.79 cm diameter. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Contains a hairline crack in the rim and a natural inclusion. Provenance: From a private Pennsylvanian collection.
