On the reverse newspaper article on the painter.Paul Mak (Pavel Petrovich Ivanov), well-known Russian painter and caricaturist, studied in the studio of K. F. Yuon in Moscow. Between 1920 and 1921 he worked as a stage designer at the Theatre of Revolutionary Satire in Moscow under the pseudonym Paul Mak. After emigrating in 1922, Mak was court painter to the Shah of Iran for more than twenty years. From the mid-1930s onwards, the artist lived in Belgium. After World War II, he had regular exhibitions in Brussels and other Belgian cities.
