Large iron padlock with appliqués of fire-gilt brass (the trim of one ball replaced) and traces of floral engravings. The key holes on both sides concealed under bolted covers in the form of mascarons. The locking mechanism is released by a pin which is inserted from below into the openings of the detachable feet. Original hollow shank key with engraved and pierced bow. The shank of one key with heart-shaped profile, the second in the form of a trefoil. Very good overall condition, slightly rusty surfaces. In fully functioning order, with a written instruction on how to open and close the lock. Dimensions 18.5 x 14 x 6 cm.Allegedly from the Kloster Ottobeuren from the prelate’s strongbox. Enclosed a handwritten note from the 19th century with details on the origins.Condition: II
