Oak with a beautiful age patina. On a sturdy base with continuous friezes of tracery. The front and side panels with raised, carved scrolling bands and decorative tendrils. The hinged lid with a depiction of the bride and groom's coats of arms amidst fine vine and ivy tendrils. A prominent border around the edge. The original hinge bands on the inside, the original lock with a pipe key of later date. Some bumps and dents, minor defects, slight worm damage on the back of the lid.
