Two impressive carved reliefs, each masterfully carved from a block of camphor wood. Fully sculptured figures carved over three levels. In the lower part the eight immortals, above a classical court scene. In front of the emperor a sacrificial bowl with peaches as a symbol of immortality. On the left and right Fo lions, dragons and phoenixes as attributes of the emperor. Above judges, scribes and court ladies. Hardwood with gold lacquer mountings, the rims set in red. Intact. Dimensions 104 x 51 x 8 cm each. Provenance: From a South German private collection, acquired in the 1980s in Vienna, Austria.Condition: II +
