Typical Halaf culture idol of a seated woman with thick, unjointed legs, a narrow head with a nose and semicircular arms enclosing the breasts. Two parallel, slightly curved incised lines at the tips of each foot. Incrustations on the surface. Fine hairline cracks in the stone. Minimal chipping or bruising. Intact. Extremely rare variant of a Halaf idol made of marble. Height 9.7 cm. Provenance: From the collection of a North German lawyer. Acquired by him in the art trade in the 1980s.Condition: II -
