Finely modelled, slightly smaller-than-life marble head of a boy with contoured eyelids and kind eyes gazing slightly upwards. Distinct cheek bones, the lips forming a smile. The boy wears a smooth cap covering the back of his head. Protruding from under the cap, which resembles Hermes's petasos, thick pierced curls which fall on the boy's forehead and temples. Nose bumped with old repair, loss at the chin. The cap slightly bumped, otherwise of excellent quality. Dimensions 17 x 12 x 13 cm, with base 26 cm. Weight 3.8 kg.Provenance: From a French private collection, purchased at Kahn Auctions in Paris, Hôtel Drouot. With French antiquities certification.Condition: II -
