Heavy and elaborately crafted bronze attache with the head of Jupiter-Ammon. The bearded god with deep-set eyes that once had silver inlays. He has the ram's horns typical of him, bent into a circle and enclosing small sheep's ears. The head emerges from a large, serrated leaf. A massive, ring-shaped handle decorated with garlands sits on the head. The attache was probably once attached to a high-quality bronze cauldron. Beautiful green-reddish patina. Mounted on a wooden base, easily removable label of Artcurial Auction (2019) and label of the collection "Y. et J. Deschamps" on the reverse. Dimensions 10.5 x 6.5 x 2.5 cm, with base 19.5 x 6.5 x 5 cm. Provenance: From the private French collection of Jean-Paul Person, purchased in the 1970ies. Subsequently sold at Artcurial Auction in Paris on April 14, 2010, lot 4. Private collection of Yvette and Jacques Deschamps, item number 266. With French antique certificate.Condition: IIKeywords: Attache d'anse mobile, Art romain
