A STONE INDUS VALLEY STYLE FIGURE OF A MAN 20th century. A work of a sculptor, reminiscent of the famous Indus Valley human figurines (3300 BCE to 1300 BCE). Of figural shape carved from a mottled orange stone, depicting a standing male figure, pierced holes for eyes, nose and mouth, large earrings as well as broad hips, straight cylindrical legs and prominent buttocks and phallus. Condition: Very good condition, one eye with nicks. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
