Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 16th century CE. A globular pottery jar with a light celadon glaze and linear motifs painted across its exterior. The vessel is set on a flat discoidal foot and has a compact, apple-shaped body with a conical neck and flared lip. Its surfaces have been lightly glazed, with interchanging painted registers along its midsection featuring floral and crosshatched patterns. A beautiful example with a stone-like finish and a gray-green hue.
