61,2 x 33,8 cm Condition Style of Wang Yuanqi (1642-1715), China, dated 1700, Landscape in the literati style. Hanging scroll, ink and colours on paper. Signature: "On the first day of spring in the gengchen year (1700) painted by Loudong Wang Yuanqi". Four seals: "Wang Yuanqi yin", "Lutai", "yu shu hua tu liu yu ren kan", "Xilu houren". Wang Yuanqi, style name Lutai, is considered the greatest of Dong Qichangs (1555-1636) followers. In his time he was the leading master of literati painting in the orthodox style. He was a member of the Hanlin Academy at the Qing Court and the art expert for the Kangxi Emperor (1662-1722). In his paintings, he introduced a new style of an organic overall composition of interwoven structure lines, ink tones and colours.-Acquired at Dahmann, Hilden, 11th Oct 1975, no. 148-Minor rest.
