Poetic inscription with signature by the artist: "In the fourth month of summer in the yimao year (1735), Shifeng Shen Zongjing". Two seals: "Shen Zongjing yin", Shifeng". Two collector's seals: "Guo Ruping shangzhen jiangu zhi yin" and "xia". Shen Zongjing, style name Shifeng, was a high official, poet and landscape painter from Songjiang (Shanghai) in Jiangsu. Dr. Guo Ruping (1913-1992), from Shanxi, studied at National Tsing Hua University in Beijing. Starting in 1935, he studied in Germany before he moved back to China in 1954 and worked there for several years after an invitation by Ji Pengfei (1910-2000). He later opened his own gallery in Berlin, called "Dr. Kuo Asiatika". Jerg Haas (1940-), Chinese name Xia Hansi, was a teacher at Shanghai International Studies University from 1965 to 1967, after an invitation by Zhou Enlai.
