66 x 33 cm Condition Wu Zheng (1878-1949): Literati Landscape with Pavilion Beneath Pines. China, dated 1940. Hanging scroll, ink and light colors on paper. Poetic inscription by the artist, signed: "In the eighth month in autumn of the gengchen year (1940), Baoxuan jushi Zheng". Two seals of the artist: "Zheng", "Baoxuan jushi". One more seal on the lower left: "peace in the wuyin year (1938)" (taiping wuyin).-Wu Zheng, style names Daiqiu and Baoxuan jushi, was a landscape painter from Chongde in Zhejiang who was active in Shanghai. He was noted for his landscapes in the traditional orthodox style of literati painting following Wang Yuanqi (1642-1715) of the Qing dynasty. He was also a good calligrapher and seal engraver-Property from a German priavte collection, bought 1964 in Nanjing-minor stains
