A collection of rare late 19th and early 20th century cycling trade catalogues, advertisements, newspaper cuttings and brochures, to include two 1839 newspaper cuttings showing illustrations of early self propelling vehicles 'the Aellopodes' and 'The Accelerator', an 1881 price list for Challenge bicycles and tricycles, a programme for the 1897 International Cycling & Motor Car Exhibition at Kensington Olympia, an 1898 Crypto Works Company 13-page brochure for the Bantam and Bantamette, an 1898 Townend Cycles catalogue, an 1899 catalogue for Rudge-Whitworth Cycles, a 1900 Singer Cycles catalogue including an agency stamp, and an 1899 group of circulars stapled together, a 1901 catalogue for the Cecil Cycle Company and an advertising letter, a 1905 catalogue for The Premier Bicycle, a 1907 John Piggott Cyclists diary, partially annotated, a 1908 catalogue for Cycles Liberator depicting a woman cyclist on the cover, a 1912 catalogue for Centaur Cycles, Coventry, a 1913 Curry's Cycle Co. catalogue, a 1915 Halford Cycle Co. catalogue, two early 20th century catalogues for Stepney Cycles, a circular shaped 1928 Runwell Bicycles catalogue, two Humber Cycles catalogues from 1909 & 1939, a fold-out 1941 brochure for Schwinn Bicycles, a 1946 Order of Service for a memorial to Kirkpatrick Macmillan, inventor of the bicycle, a mid-century cycling speed table booklet, a short story pamphlet entitled 'The Adventures of Alphonse Crapaud, Cyclist', (qty) Condition: The collection is in a condition relative to its age, most of the catalogues are held in individual sleeves, some are dog-eared, faded, held together by rusting staples, many have stains and foxing.
