PROVENANCE: From The Estate of FAIRMONT FARMS MANSION, within the city of Fairmont, West Virginia, September 1940, by E.T. NEWELL & Co, Inc., Auctioneers, 710 N. Howard ST, Baltimore, MD. (204) LARGE B/W China BowlDimensions: Width: 23cm, Height: 15cmChinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Incense Burner On Carved Hardwood Stand. Potted in shallow vessel form, thick and deep, globular body, round opening mouth lip, raised with ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of elders chatting in the large room surround with rocky rock and dense tree. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.Made in The Years Kangxi Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
