PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: 20.5 cm, Diam.: 8 cmPair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Enamel Motif Porcelain Vases. The porcelain potted in large vase shape, thick and tall, abdomen octagonal mid body, tall cylindrical neck, round wide flaring mouth lip, emerge scrolling ruyi flanked on the neck, raised on a short ring foot base with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against Famille rose design color, depicted of woman bellow dense tree beside Lishui rivers, enclosed with Chinese calligraphy lettering inscriptions poems, followed with artist's signature and iron-red seals on the upper left side. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a four under glazed red script characters reign mark, enclosed with double fine blue rectangles lines. Made in The Years Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
