此摆件为和田白玉质，洁白油润，局部有黄沁。圆雕三羊，神态各异，大羊两侧各琢一小羊。三羊均呈蹲伏状，菱形眼，双角弯曲，生动形象，刻画写实。羊、阳谐音，寓意三阳开泰。中有穿孔，可供穿系佩挂。整器细部刻画仔细，抛光讲究，光泽强烈。按《周易》，正月为泰卦，三阳生于下；冬去春来，阴消阳长，有吉亨之象。因此旧时以“三阳开泰”或“三阳交泰”祝颂新年。
