持荷童子造型最早出现在宋代，又称“磨喝乐”。此件以白玉为材，温润细腻，满黄沁，带有寿衣沁和黑色沁，包浆熟旧。圆雕，器形浑圆，边缘圆滑。琢一童子，呈站跳跃状，头顶琢圆桃形发，五官在同一平面，开脸喜庆，身着对襟衣袖，手持荷花，放于身体一侧，镂空工艺，叶脉清晰。从头至底有一贯穿孔，可供穿系佩挂。整体古意盎然，工艺古拙。参考：《故宫玉器图典》P96、97
