童子为白玉质，温润细腻，局部有黄沁。器呈站立状，开脸喜庆，头梳单髻，身着过膝长裙，一手捧水盂，一手持荷，活泼生动。底部及颈部均有穿孔，可供穿系。整体刻画清雅自然，拙而素美，不失为一精品雕件。古代玉雕中，童子是一个长盛不衰的经典题材，从宋元至明清均有制作。古代玉童子存世虽然较多，但却千姿百态，各有不同，特别是宋代玉童子，有持荷、骑木马、骑鹅、飞天等造型。参考：《故宫玉器图典》P96、97
