Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Loma Negra, North Coast Peru, Early Moche, ca. 100 BCE to 300 CE. A remarkable mold-formed tumbaga janiform head finial! The faces are identical on both sides, each with a large nose, protruding ears, and downturned lips with pronounced nasolabial folds - perhaps depicting a trophy head or portrait of a person of rank. The slit-form eyes lead into the hollow head and were perhaps inlaid at one time!
