The reason for this seems to be that this is amission for the owner of the 'studio' name and the subject illustrates it. The 'studio' name in this case is the name of a pleasure boat ling of the kind used by the elite for traveling the rivers and lakes of China. It is unusual for scholars to name their boats as studios but not unknown. Many scholars spent many days, even weeks traveling with like-minded friends in such boats and they were, in effect, floating studios. Thebination of hair crystal of such evocative material, the unusual subject, and the rare studio name make this one of the masterpieces of the Rustic Crystal Master School."
