A CLOISONNE ENAMEL INCENSE STICK-HOLDER IN THE FORM OF A TOAD, MID-QING DYNASTY
China, 1750-1850. The toad seated on its hind legs, the raised head with bulging eyes and the mouth agape with a small aperture for holding incense sticks, the body enameled in emerald-green with pale green spots, the chest of a pale turquoise color, the webbed feet and wide mouth are gilt, the base with a pierced coin-shaped design at the center.
Provenance: Irish trade.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and manufacturing flaws, minuscule losses to enamels at the base, light surface scratches, few small dents and nicks.
