AN UNDERGLAZE-BLUE-DECORATED AND POLYCHROME ENAMELED RIBBED BRUSHPOT, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. The bitong is of cylindrical form, set on a short spreading foot, the exterior painted in bright enamels with reserves depicting figural scenes and landscapes, interspersed with floral designs and birds, framed within an underglaze blue border of bats flying in clouds. The interior decorated with a band of pendent jeweled tassels.

Provenance: German private collection.
Condition: Good condition with some old wear and manufacturing flaws, including pitting, dark spots, and small firing cracks, wear to the gilt and enamels, light surface scratches, minute fritting.
